it depends of the niche of the site, the pool of potential advertisers, and the profile of visitors, not only their country. Depending of the niche of your site, you can have a lot of visitors, but the kind who are not clicking on ads. In the other hand, you can have low level of visitors, but with a high potential of clicks (and earning).

So, (in my opinion), there are no answer to your question.

ps: 100K visitors per month is 3K+ / day for the record. Personally, I believe this is at 10K / day that you can start considering being serious :), but again all depend of your niche.

A lot of indirect damage was done all those years ago to genuine publishers by the rampant rush to MFA's.

I always hoped the MFA's eventually suffered the consequences of their actions.

I'm not going to bother looking it up again [if it still exists] for the 100th time I have referred to it across numerous forums, but I still believe our Brett Tabke's "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone" is still valid in a lot of respects.

Critics claim it is old and outdated, well it is around 17 years old - I don't believe it outdated.

A starting point should always be something you passionately love and are very knowledgeable about, thereby gaining the respect and traffic from your Genre. Aspire to be the spokesperson.

In recent years I have largely run my sites without the benefit of SE's. Mostly just inbound links, and visitor bookmarks. And I haven't written very much new since 2002.

NO! My sites never were, nor ever will be about making money - I teach the world in my genre.

Also, I think that no one can claim to be able to develop a site with 100K / months just because he has decided it :) Time is telling is a site is gaining traffic, AND succeeding to maintain this level of traffic (and improve it if possible). Lot of sites, are succeeding to acquire traffic very quickly , but from my observations, the faster you get traffic , the shorter this will stay like that :)

Another question to ask yourself, when you start a site, is, why did I choose this subject/domain? Keep in mind that if you choose this subject, it certainly means that tens, hundreds or thousands of others are already doing the same. Then you might wonder why your site could get noticed over the crown. Also, the more sensible a subject, the more risky. I am talking about sites about health and finance for only naming them. Sounds very promising, with potentially high paying advertisers, but... you know, ... recent events is showing this is risky business :)

The quality of adsense itself has changed over the years. The potential incomes have been whittled down as the pie (which is only one size) keeps getting sliced thinner and thinner by the enormous number of players, and a shift in advertisers to different methods of outreach to maximize returns on their spend.

Making a site for adsense is the lowest of all low hanging fruit.

If you're thinking about making a website because you're knowledgeable and passionate about the topic and want to share that knowledge and passion with others - by all means, do it.

If you're thinking about making a website just to make money from Adsense - don't do it.

The GDN is now utterly choked with people who have jumped on the gravy train by either creating valueless content or, in many cases, stealing content from others. So if you can't bring something new to the table, I'd suggest not coming to the table because there will only be crumbs.

Also, Adsense is now a bottom-feeder network in terms of revenue. My Adsense revenue is essentially the minimum-wage. I don't occupy a marketable niche and my users aren't in the buying cycle, admittedly - but my sites have been online 10-15+ years, I get daily traffic in six figures and most of it is from US/UK/CA/AU.

Also, worth noting that "making a living from Adsense" is contingent on where you live. My costs of living in Australia are going through the roof, which only compounds the problem of falling Adsense revenue.

Sad thing is the myth of "enormous" revenue from adsense continues, despite the overwhelming facts to the contrary. Just don't expect more than a maintenance level income these days ... and "maintenance" means covering average hosting costs. And maybe a night out at Micky D once a month for burgers and fries ... for two. :)

Note: and yes, half of AdSense publishers do worse than this...

== $1.00 per 29.4 visitors.
== $100.00 per 2940 visitors.
With your number of 100,000 monthly visitors my site fwith traffic from Google only would make $3400.00.

$1.86 (avg CPC) * 68% (publisher portion) * 8.4% (avg CR - from all traffic) = $0.106 per visitor
== $1.00 per 9.4 visitors.
== $100.00 per 940 visitors.
With your number of 100,000 monthly visitors my site would make $10,638.00.

Do your due diligence on:
* how to be a better alternative in your niche.
* Google referred traffic quality and quantity in you niche.
* advertisers and their budgets in your niche.
* the value of AdSense in your niche.
* etc.
And then you can determine business and site requirements and take 6-months to a year to build a reasonable web presence and a beginning Google presence... Remember that, these days you will be taking on many well established competitors and AdSense is NOT the revenue stream it once was. Nor is Google traffic.

Who knows other than G?

I used to serve a genuine 100,000 pages per day and earn $10+k per month, a couple of months ago I removed AdSense from all my properties but one, to keep my account valid, and now I shall be fortunate if I make the minimum payout every 5 months.

Bear in mind G has a HUGE amount of data and for those earning HUGE amounts G will be chasing YOUR widget markets to GRAB your earnings.

G does NOT give a fig about you and promoting your earnings, if they see you making BIG bucks they will try and take it off you!

My global industry was one of the first IN to AdWords and was also one of the first OUT ... G is NOT your friend, it is most likely your biggest competitor.
