Last days of September 2018 were not very good, now let's see what October (Q4) will bring to the table.
For me, September 018 was a good month.

I just noticed that the AdSense dashboard left side bar menu option have changed. The changes are minor, they have added "Ads for search" section and renamed "Ad-Review" to "Blocking controls"

If I have a good day on Adsense, my ADX earning will be bad, so the total is in the same "normal" interval.

First sign of optimism I've had in a long time...

I mentioned in another thread that I've been test-running sticky ads via Sulvo for a few weeks, and having great results with it.

Today, I moved my regular below-the-fold 300x250 Adsense banner to Sulvo for a test run. This is typically my lowest-performing banner, so it's one that I can risk a bad day without it hurting the bottom line too much.

The day still has 5 hours left, and the Sulvo banner has made 60.6% more than the Adsense banner did all day yesterday! So by the end of the day, I expect it will be nearly 100% better than the Adsense banner was.

Well, for a strange reason yesterday was the best day of 2018 for me...

I do not know the reason...

Well, for a strange reason yesterday was the best day of 2018 for me...

Congratulations ... today is doing likewise for me with, so far, my 6th highest clicks and an RPM in excess of USD 61.00 .!.!.!

I wonder how many will be deleted since they are across several sites and countries therefore nothing concentrated on anywhere specific.

@mantat volume loss, Friday was my best day for ages, earnings were into double figures for yesterday. The figures are really hired for some reason. Page RPM was £5.57, CPC was 33p and along the 37 clicks it turned out to be okay. Today could be another good day. CPC is at 27p. Two or three days ago I disabled inarticle ads. Now I have very few ads apart from my link unit just above the heading of the page and two or three banners in the article on some of the pages, but not many. In fact, only scroll down on the PC there's hardly any ads to be seen whatsoever. I've still got one that appear on mobile devices running so I think that's possibly where a lot of the money is coming from.

Looks like today could be quite good. Already I've had seven clicks with the CPC of 53p & the page RPM is £5.42

One of the sites I work with got a huge influx of page views (wasn't expected at all) because of the shares and popularity of certain new articles. The earning 4x for consecutive 3 days. However, it's not completely because of AdSense. As I use other networks and exchanges too.

Another rubbish day in earnings. What do you expect when coverage is at 50% :(

What do you expect when coverage is at 50% :(

To be positive, it means that your site has the potential of earning twice more (in theory), and that it can happen (again) one day. Now, all depends of the reason of the 50% coverage. It doesn't necessarily mean that the 50% of visitors (or pages) not being shown ads would effectively earn you money.

I'd like to be positive, but it's been like it all year. Rewriting the site from html4 to html5 hasn't fixed the issue.

The only thing I can be positive about is that it will be the same tomorrow.

Lame_wolf, have you tried contacting support to have them see the cause of the low coverage?

Just this past spring I msg'd them about one particular site of mine getting 40-60% coverage for years and had them look into it. They did something on their end and, in about four months, the site started hitting the 80-90% mark again. Took a long while but something was changed on their end. I think a manual review by an engineer helped (it was escalated).

Hi CommandDork,

Yes, I have tried a number of times. As I now no longer earn as much, I no longer qualify for email support, so had to use a form.

I've showed them the problem, gave screen shots of certain pages with different browsers. Even gave them some links about this problem. No Joy.

My wife also contacted them (She has an account on the same site) and she did actually get to speak to someone, but that stopped nearly 8 weeks ago.

I've even used the feedback that's in the Adsense account. Nothing.

"Coverage" includes a lot of things.

- lack of inventory,
- lack of inventory for a given visitor (remember that with adsense everything is more or less personalized, event contextual ads ,can include a drop of customization),
- lack of inventory for a given visitor, using a given browser, at a given time of the day (same comment as the above one, Adsense is supposedly optimizing ROI of advertisers, which can result in "display an ad, only when the AI believes it has a significant chance to earn money/please the advertiser),
- brand safety, pages with too low number of visitors (within a given length of time) will not display ads. Also , I suspect that the brand safety is not on a per page basis, but on a per page per platform per country basis.
- lazy loading of ads, seems to be counted in the "coverage". So for example, if an ad slot is not viewed, it counts as an impression, with no ad (= coverage 0%). Not viewed, can be for example, bellow the fold, when users do not scroll, or on mobile, it can be anything, since it's common for people to have the time to scroll pages, before ads have the time to load.

you can look at the individual coverage rage for each of your ad slot, to see if you can identify a pattern.

There's no lack of coverage in any shape or form. More so these days when they give any old advert for a page, or user-based adverts, 3rd party adverts allowed.

There is no real pattern. Sometimes it's the bottom ad that won't load, other times it will be something else, I have tried so many things throughout the year to solve it, but nothing has worked.

I've tried fixed sized adverts as well as responsive.
I've left the advert to collapse if it cannot be shown, as well as to show something else if it fails to load Adsense.
It does it on really busy pages as well as quieter ones.
I've even added canonical tags - not that they are needed on static html, and it's made no difference.

I've been with them for 10+ years, so I'm no n00b to things. I don't know what's worse, the adverts not showing or the lack of support from the "support" team.

Do you monitor error messages in the web browser console? I know, that, from time to time ads are not showing at my sites, because of javascript, redirects, or even MIME errors. Errors which are NOT related to my page, but happen in Adsense / ads code.

I also do not understand why, sometimes, no ads are served at all, whereas it looks like third party ad networks have things for anything (even garbage)

I do not. I've never looked at the web browser console.
This problem is related to the problem that a lot of others were getting going way back to Dec last year. I noticed in Jan.

Plus £4.05 p more estimated earnings than September. Normally, my finalised earnings are only a few p less than the estimated earnings, so I should be slightly up on last month which is okay, at least not going in the wrong direction.

@justpassing.

When I look at the Analog Stats in cPanel, there is a section called "Failed Referrer Report" which shows Google with over 50% of the errors.

Reading elsewhere, it says this about the FRR...
"The Failed Referrer Report indicates the web pages and number of requests that have redirected the user on the website to another page unsuccessfully"

I don't know why it's doing that. All I have it a redirect from http to https and a redirect on the index.html file.

This problem is related to the problem that a lot of others were getting going way back to Dec last year. I noticed in Jan.

December is when Adsense started the brand safety. It's highly related "somehow". My cover went from 90% to 50% and remained like that since that time. However, I just look closed to my coverage, and it's nearly flat (at 50%) and all of a sudden on September 22nd, it climbed instantly to 75% and remains there. I don't know why is that.

FRR.

Never heard of that. Learning everyday day. I'll look at it.
