New for UK really? That setting has been around for at least a year (maybe longer) from where I am in the US.

Maybe it's just the prominent placement under the search box which is new. I hadn't seen it before

yes, but @surfgatinho was talking about "Allowing users to set personalisation preferences", not the ad settings page itself.

No one denied that the ad setting was existing since 9 years, this was just to mention a significant evolution of it, that Google announced itself, with the personalized ads settings, as well as all the information on how it works, and what Google knows about you as reported here too - [seroundtable.com...]
