Very Odd Page Level Violation

It Doesn't Make Sense

I received a page level violation over "violent content" for nothing more than an old news article regarding a physical altercation between an athlete and his trainer.

It is well written, there are no photos, no video, no profanity. Nothing more than text. I run a sports website and this is a high profile athlete and at the time this was a major news story.

This is very, very odd. I have no idea what to fix, since there is nothing to fix.

I'd remove the old news article. It doesn't matter if you think it warrants a violation. Google decides what kind of content they want next to their ads, not us.

The article will not be removed. I'll remove the ads from being shown on that page, but I've shown the page my ad agents, who work closely with Adx and they believe it's a false positive because there is nothing to complain about.

This is a high profile site on MMA, it's not exactly ballet. And we have over 125,000 articles and a 14 year relationship with Adsense. But this is the first time we received a violation of this kind on this page.

From Adsense's own policy page - only two items are listed as acceptable for violent content - "Boxing or martial arts pages"

I spoke with Adsense Support and they saw nothing wrong that sticks out, advised me to request a review and hopefully it clears with the compliance department.

I requested the review. Less than 24 hours later the violation was removed. Common sense prevails when an actual person reviews the page and not a bot scan.
