AdSense serves autoplay video ads

Do yourself a favor and go ahead and block them all

In a thread quite some time ago I made the following statement: "AdSense doesn't allow autoplay video ads!".... boy was I wrong...

So I discovered that my site was plastered with autoplay video ads by some obnoxious youtube channel. Just spent an hour or so manually filtering them out. Just go into your Ad Review Center, filter by Ads Matching "youtube" and select rich media and see for yourself.

In the impression reports I saw that these ads always appeared before a significant drop in CPC, which might indicate that there might be some sort of quality score that is based on your historical performance (or the day before).

Be careful people.

Many thanks, LuckyD. Great find.

There is absolutely NOTHING I want less than autoplay anything. I HATE them. I will never knowingly foist them off on others.
I don't even allow "enhanced text" ads, because they sneak them in there.
(As an aside, my Flashstopper on FireFox doesn't work anymore - DRIVES ME CRAZY.)

I found 17, and killed them all. I will continue to do so daily.
I will not annoy the cr@p out of people, for a few pennies.

The problem is, what about the ones that don't say "youtube".

Please give suggestions as to how I might avoid THOSE, as well. Please, please, please. Anybody.

Thank you so much.
(EDIT: HTH do I give a Like vote? I can't figure it out. It just keeps going back and forth between Like and Unlike, every time I click on "Like Votes". Where is the secret handshake?) EDIT 2: I read the blurb on it. I STILL don't understand it. I think I downvoted you, but I can't change it. About as clear as mud. Somebody needs to go back to GUI school.)
As in, I click it once, and i immediately get "Unlike vote". That's my feedback. HUH?
Hows about some REAL instructions? The Search function just doesn't cut it.

Thanks for posting this! I have received numerous complaints about AutoPlay ads in the past. My site visitors hate them!

@Sally Stitts, as far as I know the only way for advertisers to push autoplay ads is to host them on youtube, so searching ads matching "youtube" *should theoretically* filter them all.

I ended up blocking more than 150 of those.

HTH do I give a Like vote? I can't figure it out. It just keeps going back and forth between Like and Unlike

Unlike means to remove your own previous Like vote. (With the amusing result that the post shows up as “0 Likes” if you’re experimenting on some random post that didn’t previously have any Likes.) Some-but-not-all sites with a down-arrow button work the same way.
