Ads that show different ads than the destination URL

Hi,

So I've been noticing more and more of these ads recently where initially, the ads show an image for a big company like Nike for example, but eventually they start showing a video for something totally different.

Initially, they're clickable and bring you to the initial company's landing page, but once they start showing videos, they're unclickable, or sometimes only clickable by a small "Read more" button.

I've also noticed the same kind of ad where a video plays for a big brand like Hitachi, but eventually the ad spot starts showing videos for other products / brands, also unclickable.

What are your thoughts about these kind of ads ? Would you block them ?

I'd like to hear your opinions and experiences with those ads.

This has been reported and discussed. Have you been reading through the other posts about Adsense? That's usually the best way to find answers. Try using the Site Search at the upper-right corner of any page.

Yes, I've been reading on the subject recently in different threads, and I also participated in different discussions, but I thought my topic was a bit different, so I've decided to open a new thread.

I'm not focusing on the "unclickable ads", but rather on the ads that show a product, and then switch to a video ad that show other products.

These kind of ads have been popping up a lot recently on my site, and while they don't seem like a problem at first sight, I'm still wondering about their legitimacy since they don't quite advertise what they should be advertising.

One ad network that does this a lot is Platform161. Their ads are mostly for different companies (Nike, Mercedes, McDonalds) with straightforward images. But when you wait a bit, the ads start showing videos of other products, and you can clearly see those ads working like crazy in the Chrome developer console.

This seems like a new trend to me and I'd really like to know the opinions of other people on the subject.

While I'm not seeing that at my properties, I see the concern, especially since Google sometimes shifts the responsibility onto the publisher in unexpected ways.

Maybe someone else will post.
