Ads Without Incentive to Click

It appears that many ads offer no incentive to click, such as "Get recipes for these dried currants here." Ads I am seeing are just to get the name of the company in front of people. There is no reason for people to click on the ads. Perhaps this is only being seen in my culinary category. I am going to begin blocking these ads because there is nothing in it for me and everything in it for the advertiser.

Some ads are paid on a CPM basis, so there would be something in it for you. And apparently they won the auction, so the expectation is that they'd make you more than the next ad.

My opinion: don't worry about such ads because CPC ads with a weak CTR end up with a lower quality score. That means the clicks they do get will cost more, so "What's in it for you" will average out about the same.

Go on patrol in the ad review center to block ads that are icky, deceptive or somehow at odds with your desired brand image. But otherwise, let the auction do its thing and work on something else.
