Question: Can SSL effect earnings is this why they have dropped?

I found out from my host that Cpanel have put in a free AUTOSSL as part of their latest April update.

I have also read that this may affect Adsense negatively as there is only a small pool of "compliant" SSL ad providers bidding.

I have just removed this from my server to see if it makes a difference to earnings, but surely Google will know this and it should not effect anything right?

Has anyone else noticed earnings going down when installing SSL? I am not sure if to put it back on or not!

Did you change your site to serve pages via https: URLs? The free option in CPanel is not turned on by default, so if you did not change your site, https is not active. The AUTO part of the AUTOSSL only refers to the updated implementation so that you do not need to manually reapply the SSL as it used to expire.

The Google help page that you have linked to tells you that ALL AdSense ads are served via https: so they can be served either way (http: or https:)

Whether you change your site to be served via https: or not is up to you, but not changing could have negative consequences, see this (long) discussion about What will happen if I don't switch to HTTPS [webmasterworld.com]

I accidentally turned it on without thinking about the implications when it first became available. I saw autossl, and went, cool let's try it.

It made my sites accessible in both http and https, with https breaking due to the http assets. If anything, it could potentially confuse search engines, ie sending traffic to nonworking https versions.

In terms of https and adsense earning....I made the switch 2016 november and saw no significant change.
