Hi in my site a few pages had comments enabled where they were not supposed to be comments

So yesterday accidentally found the about 1000 spam comments on the page and increasing!

So I deleted the page and disabled comments for that content type

My question is would this affect my adsense earnings and how long does it take to recover from this mess?

I doubt there would be any direct impact.

There could be an impact in terms of reporting, of a drop in rpm and ctr, if 1000 page views is a significant number as compared to your daily page views. In other words if say typically you have a CTR of 1% and you have 1000 PV's this is calculated by 10 clicks / 1000 pvs. If suddenly you get 500 spammy pvs in with no ad clicks then the calc becomes 10/1500 and you CTR drops to 0.67%.

If this occurs on an ongoing basis and you are getting invalid clicks from this traffic, then you may be in danger of getting penalized for the invalid click activity. But if this happens for a day or two and you only get few clicks, then Adsense would probably clawback the value of the clicks and that is it.

Spammy comments if not removed quickly could impact your rankings, then less traffic and so less Adsense earnings.

Since you addressed this problem quickly and decisively (by deleting the pages) I doubt you need to worry any more about it.
