Alas (or at last), it's time. Just received the following e-mail:

Dear Publisher,

We recently launched the European Union (EU) user consent policy, which requires that you obtain EU end users’ consent to the storing and accessing of cookies and other information including: data collection, sharing, and usage that takes place when you use Google advertising products. This policy applies to publishers monetizing with Google AdSense, AdMob, DoubleClick for Publishers, and DoubleClick Ad Exchange.

We have reviewed the sites that you monetize and found that one or more of them doesn’t comply with this policy. These can be found in the file attached to this email. If your site does not have a valid consent mechanism, you should implement one now. Failing to comply with this policy is a breach of your contract with Google and may result in disabling of your account(s) if it is not resolved by 3/28/2017. Please also note that, while we have not reviewed any apps that you may monetize with our products at this time, our user consent policy applies to apps too.

Resources to make this process easier for you can be found on cookiechoices.org.

Please keep us up to date with the changes you are making to comply with this policy by filling out this form [support.google.com].

Not annoying my visitors with a cookie warning since they first introduced this policy was well worth the slap on the wrist, but it looks like I have no choice but to dust off that Javascript snippet.

Hello,

Following my first post :

- I have received the email from Adsense on 26 of January
- I did a first fix on 26 of January, and notified Google Adsense via the dedicated form
- I have receveid a new email from Adsense on 1 of February (same email as robzilla, on same date, telling me the same thing (also telling me, apparently, that it was better now but with some lack of informationq))
- I did a second fix on 1 of February and notified Google Adsense via the dedicated form
... No news then from Adsense
- So approximately on the 22 of February, I have used the dedicated form again in order to notify Google Adsense again (I was thinking "maybe they dit not receive my notificaton of 1 of February)
... No news until now
- On the 1 of March, I have used the "Contact Adsense Email Form" in order to send them a message

I am still waiting...

My adsense account is linked with my 2 websites, 2000+€ per month.
I would really be delighted to have an answer from them, but for now I am in the blur .... And you?

I'm also still waiting for approval but I feel I've done my part so I'm not worried about it, and not inclined to push them in any way. I've submitted the form and now it's up to them to check my implementation. Out of my hands. They have thousands of websites to check and I get the impression this isn't automated.

Thanks for the comment. I agree.

For my part, I tried to push a little bit because I think that from a certain threshold (of generated money), the assistance could / should be faster.... But it's been 10 years that I work with Adsense, so I actually understand the amount of editors to manage, and the difficulty in manually managing those cases.. And anyway it's not really the topic..

I will keep you posted of any news I have from Adsense ! :)

Surprised I haven't received one of these yet. I use the "Silktide" cookie consent JS on my main sites but I think I have a few that don't have this implemented.

The only reason I ever implemented it anywhere was to keep Google happy. As far as I can see there are no other consequences except a better user experience...

Most people are annoyed by cookie bars, so it's not exactly a boon for the user experience. I implemented it to "comply" (minimal effort) with Google's guidelines, so that Google can "comply" (again, minimal effort) with the European Union's ridiculous cookie "law".

where no longer a cookie consent will be needed when the cookies improve the user’s internet experience

Google will argue that the tracking cookie from Adsense, is for the purpose of improving the user's experience, by displaying targeted ads to his interest :)

Is it Ok to show the Notice only to European countries ?

[cookieconsent.insites.com...] seems to have country control option but I can't figure how to implement it.

Added "location": "true", to script.
Seems to be working fine.
