Google AdSense: Remember that Cookie Law Email?

Some of you may remember that "Cookie Law" e-mail from Google for AdSense publishers. [webmasterworld.com...]

You may have missed the latest news on this, where the E.U. is reconsidering the position having finally recognised it requires simplifying.

I am not sure it changes anything. From what I understand, the "simplification" only concerns "non-privacy intrusive cookies". And Adsense's cookies are "privacy intrusive" since they track and collect data about people's behaviors, for the purpose (among others) to serve interest based ads, ... I mean, "personalized" ads (which sounds less intrusive, and more positive *irony*).
