Recently put some AdSense ads back on my site with Black Friday/Cyber Monday fast approaching. My site is consumer retail - fashion to be more specific. There is essentially an endless number of advertisers in fashion, not to mention related categories. I have 2 ads per page and I would say 50% of the time Google is serving up the same exact ad in both spots. I mean I've had this problem so many times in the past that I've almost given up ever trying to find a fix. But with my peak earning season coming up, I thought I'd try 1 last time to see if anyone has ever figured out a solution for the "duplicate ad" issue. My site is not on a list of publishers that receives low quality "fat belly" ads. The ads that show are top retailers that you've heard of. And I have hundreds of pages and each page shows different ads. The problem is that Google frequently shows that same ad twice on say page 1 and when I check page 2 it duplicate ads again, but it's a different advertisers' duplicate ad. The problem is exactly the same if I have the same ad unit code in 2 places on my pages or if I have 2 different ad unit codes.
I mean one of the biggest red flags you can have as a publisher is duplicate ads. You lose trust of the visitor. At this point, it probably only makes sense for me to have one ad because then at least it won't be a dupe. If anyone has had this problem and found the fix please share.
