Hey guys,

It seems that Amazon has quietly created an ad program that could be an Adsense competitor.

They are called Amazon Native Shopping Ads

[affiliate-program.amazon.com...]

Very interesting

That is not an AdSense competitor and native ads have been around for a while. The problem is that YOU have to target your ads, not Amazon, and for those of us not in a direct selling niche they are fairly useless. AdSense for me pays 10X what my native ads pay, and that's with a low RPM for AdSense.

Yeah they had some decent widgets and they dumped all of them to encourage everybody to use that cumbersome thing. At least the widgets still work if you're grandfathered in.

I'm glad they grandfathered my existing widgets. don't know yet if I can still edit an astore.

iirc, the new ads are responsive. a nice feature.

now, give us the same thing with amazon text ads.

I also very much doubt it would be a competitor for AdSense.

I have been with Amazon since 1998. An interesting thing was when AdSense first came into being, many very successful Amazon Associates found that AdSense either didn't work for them on their sites or even worse, they sent potential sales away for the price of a click.

As far as I know [I'm open to correction] Native Shopping Ads are just another Amazon innovation for existing Associates. Not for people outside of the Associates programme.

Personally, from disappointing experience I am loathe to embrace Amazon suggestions just as much as I am about AdSense suggestions. So much depends upon your site, your genre, your audience.

There is no such thing as one size fits all.

Looking through the Associates Forum [which I rarely do these days] I see the usual list of complaints/problems relating to Native Shopping Ads.

I certainly cannot visualise it remotely being a competitor to AdSense though.
