I have been asked by adsense if I would like to try ads that stay fixed in place when the user scrolls i.e. remain visible in the sidebar when the user moves up and down. They are only to be used on desktop, not tablet/mobile.
Until now these have not been available to publishers as far as I know, but sound like a good thing for long pages.
Has anyone else tried them and found them successful? (Generally I don't use sidebar ads because they don't earn much but 'always visible' ads might be different?
Note: don't try them unless you have heard from google that you can, they are NOT usually permitted.

I dunno, but I was not impressed with the mobile anchor ads (which were fixed to the bottom of the mobile screen)

There's also the user annoyance factor to consider as well. Depends on your content/site.

Indeed! I personally find such ads highly annoying and worthy of blocking.

I see them quite often, I quickly see if the page has the information I need, then I leave.

Another ploy I frequently use for very long pages in those circumstances is to print the page to a pdf file in a temp directory, and read it at leisure - even save it elsewhere if valuable. Sans the distracting rubbish.

In either case, I invariably don't look around the site.

If that is the kind of result you are hoping for - then go for it.

I think if you place ads on the middle of the page you have more chance that people will miss click at it
