So today I have one page generating a high number of clicks on average traffic. Should I report it to adsense. 5x the number it should be getting.

The plus is they fix it. The downside is I am more or less requesting a manual review of my site.

Or should I simply take the page down.

Was the layout at fault? Did you have content and ads so closely mixed that errors occurred?

No and No I went and checked. Its like 100's of other pages of unique content. Same format. Just a crazy number of clicks.

I could remove the ads as another option.

I'd remove the ads until you figure out the issue and can fix it.

Could be that advertisers are targetting that page with a very relevant ad. Depends also on statistical significance. Getting 5 clicks from 20 pageviews isn't usually an issue but 5000 clicks from 20000 pageviews is.
I have never reported excess clicks, not sure it achieves anything except a manual review, but I would triple check the page on all possible devices so that if google take a look there is no possibility of an issue. Check in particular for menu dropping over ads, oversized ads on mobile devices, misleading title just above the ads, floating photos that end up next to the ad on certain size screens etc...

I took out the ads. Its a small revenue hit but worth it to not have to worry about it.
