How did you do with AdSense for the entire month of February versus the same period a year ago?

I know there is a February AdSense thread, but it has many posts about performance on individual days and other topics. I'm hoping this thread will take a broader view.

For my main site, AdSense revenue was down 3% while audience was up 17%.

53% lower this year Feb 2016 compared to Feb 2015. More. Than. A. 50%. Decrease. In. Earnings. And. Getting. Worse.

One other small site that I manage in my spare time had a 32% drop in revenue with a 53% increase in visits. That one was especially disappointing.

I was surprised at my stats, impressions down 1/3. clicks down by half, but earnings almost the same.

Feb 2016 vs. Feb 2015
PV up by 16%
Impressions up by 12%
RPM down by 45%
Clicks down by 47%
Earnings down by 30% (and that's with an extra day)

In summary, absolute garbage.

Revenue 75% of last year while impressions were 87% of last year - thank you for adding to my depression!

But seriously, you are looking at the wrong figures.
What is important is how next year will compare, and what we are going to be doing in the meantime to attempt to achieve our goals.

Good idea with this thread, comparing months is a lot more meaningful than daily observations. I'm obviously comparing the same number of days (29):

Earning are 69% of February 2015
Views are 110% of February 2015
RPM is 64% of February 2015

And that is after updating ads to bigger, more popular sizes (used to stick with smaller sizes), and converting to responsive design. I'm essentially back to what I was earning 6-7 years ago.

Traffic is down since August, but what worries me is the CTR, people are 20% less clicking on ads compared to Feb.'15.
G deindexed my 2 biggest sites in August, and I'm still strugling to earn at least half of last year' earnings.
Feb. 2016 is my second lowest month since Feb. 2005. :)

Adsense earnings are 88% of feb 2015...but i have implemented premium memberships and those earnings are more then the lost Adsense earnings. So total earnings are up!

For my main site Feb 2015 v Feb 2016:

Adsense Earnings up 17%
Affiliate ad earnings - just over tripled
Page views up almost double

My plan of action last year was to put the majority of my efforts into increasing the volume of page views to enable me to approach affilates (direct and through ad agencies) with a larger portfolio of ad slots. That's been achieved to some degree and the same strategy will be applied to my efforts in 2016. The more volume I have, the more I will be cushioned from the downturn (%wise) in Adsense earnings due to Adblockers / ignoring AMP / lack of being https and whatever other crap comes along.

In 2017 my hope is that volumes will have doubled again and if that's the case I'll then divert much more attention to ad placement / optimisation and negotiating directly with affiliate sites.
