I noticed something odd in my stats the last few weeks and decided to dig farther into it.
My site is in English but covers specific people and places from around the world (it is an informational website only). Note that it is unlikely that the holidays had a major impact on traffic/earnings.
The last two weeks I have noticed that the top countries by earnings are almost always US, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia (all primarily English speaking countries).
So I looked at the numbers for a one week period at several intervals over the last few months with these results:
Week = % of earnings from the 4 main English speaking countries
1-7 Oct 2015 = 76.0%
1-7 Nov 2015 = 64.9%
1-7 Dec 2015 = 74.9%
1-7 Jan 2016 = 70.2%
8-14 Jan 2016 = 82.4%
15-21 Jan 2016 = 81.6%
By Day:
7 Jan = 48.4%
8 Jan = 78.7%
9 Jan = 90.1%
By Larger Period:
8-21 Jan 2016 = 82.0%
1 Jan 2015 - 7 Jan 2016 = 71.7%
There seems to be an obvious drop in earnings from non-English speaking countries since 8 Jan 2016.
Anyone else seeing something similar?
