Review the habits of your individual traffic sources.

Also check your layout as regards RWD. Different viewports might send your ads in different places.

Just gave the likely answer to my own nemesis, that I never thought of.

@fathom, do report back in a week or three on results of RWD mods in this regard. Most times this (viewport) is the "visibility" problem. It gets worse when mobile and tablet get inserted.

Not wanting to hijack this thread from the OP so will suggest for him to do the same. Please report back, if and when, you unlock the secret.

You don't need a tool. View your site on your phone and see where the ads fall. If they're more than a couple screen scrolls, it's probably your problem.

I am convinced it's my problem (85% of my traffic is mobile) and I'm rethinking my RWD layout accordingly.

Yes :)..
"Tool(s)" ..Firefox ( either "out of the box" ) or with an "add on"

So..install firefox..go to "tools" click "web developer" , then click "responsive design view"..
Unfortunately it does lack a view of 480x800..which is one of the most common used on non apple phones..
To get this 480x800 view, and other useful tools ..install in firefox the web developer toolbar by chris pederick [chrispederick.com...]
This is a lot cheaper than buying the various phones and tablets that might be used to view your site, and is reasonably accurate..I also have the actual phones and tablets to check with..
