I'm so excited to be able to run Sticky Adunit as beta tester. It is in beta phase and i think that it will be great feature which will help to increase dramatically CTR. Is there anyone who already run Sticky Adunits?

I will let you know over a couple days about results.

Are you talking about the mobile anchor ad, or some other ad unit?

Other Sticky Adunit. For desktop and not for mobile. Actually it is not allowed to run such an Adunit as Sticky Adunit on mobile at all.

Actually you are allowed to use the mobile anchor ad on mobile, which is sticky. Just talk to your rep if it's not enabled for you yet.
However, be careful not to exceed the 3x content ad limit. You will need to ditch one. For my site I saw a horrific RPM across all traffic sources. The plan is to go back to "regular" ad units asap.

Would be interesting to hear your experience with the sticky unit. So please give us an update :)

(I ran the mobile anchor unit beta for a while - I was specifically told I did NOT have to reduce my number of ads and running three plus the mobile was fine. However it somehow brought my entire revenue way down - I dunno how, but as soon as I had the anchor ad removed, everything went back up. So that was it for me)

I had the exact same experience as Netmeg and quickly ditched it!

Just popped onto my account and there's now a section under 'my ads' called 'page-level ads' which is in beta mode. This appears to be a more advanced implementation of the initial anchor ads I had been testing on mobile. It now allows you to trail what are called vignette ads which rather than have an anchor at the bottom of the screen on mobile, an advert is displayed between page loads on the website. Going to test this out and see if it improves mobile revenue!

Netmeg, thanks for the info, my rep told me it counts to the limit. And now, same as Maleda, I see the page level ads section, which explicitly states that it doesn't count to the limit. Will report back in a few days with the results of the test

I just got the notification to try Page-level ads. I think I'm going to wait a bit and let the bugs iron out and get feedback from others

Moderators, please change the title of the topic to "Page-Level Ads" as "sticky adunit" is kinda misleading/old concept. It is going to be a long discussion topic and I am looking forward to feedback from all the great people on WebmasterWorld.

I've open this thread to hear experience from the publisher who were able to run Sticky Ads for Desktop (as chosen beta tester). Not sure how is going in different way (probably because in the same time into Adsense account appear new section 'page-level ads') but moderator can change this thread to "Page-Level Ads" because it looks that nobody on this forum had any experience with running Sticky Ads for Desktop.

ps

Or probably is better to split this thread and open new one by "Page-Level Ads" starting by Maleda and then move related post there.

Tiny update: I ran the mobile anchor unit previously and now made the switch to page-level ads yesterday. No change in RPM whatsoever, still miserable.... The vignette ad units are kind of like internal adfly links. I don't think that this is good user experience. Will continue testing and report back.

How long until this is enabled for all users? I am wary of asking a rep as I want to avoid drawing any attention to my site just in case (even though I am pretty sure I'm obeying the rules and best practices).

Calum, if you are sure that you're golden on the policy front, being in contact with your rep is actually good. He will be the one on your side. (anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong)

My rep is awesome. I will actually grab a beer with him soon.

CTR is very low. Only $5 off 36k impressions.

Sticky's not allowed on mobile cause it creates invalid clicks.

I had the mobile anchor unit previously and the earnings were pretty bad. I'm now running the page level anchor ad.

Any ideas how to track it? Does it automatically appear in the relevant custom channel or is there something I've missed to tie it to a custom channel?

You need to select "Ad Behaviour" in the report type.

Perhaps you had the exception which they make for some premium publishers to exceed the 3 ad limit. My experience mirrors yours. Not worth the time (and the same for web based mobile interstitials or whatever they call them).

"Page-Level Ads" (Both sticky ad and interstitials ad) are over and above the 3 ad limit - that's because they appear only on mobile and that too not always.

Even for me it was enabled a week back. Surprisingly the CTR for these Page-Level Ads are very low (maybe AdSense is very smart and strict on invalid clicks on these) and even the CPM is very low. But didnt change the CTR or CPM of my other normal ads.

A high CTR would be encouraging for me (and i guess others) to migrate rest of the site to responsive web design.

I'm pretty sure I'm not a premium publisher. I might make the minimum, but it would only be for one or maybe two months a year.

Yayabobi

If you don't know then you're not a premium publisher. Premium publishers have a contact person at Google AdSense designated to them.

Been trying the sticky ads but as above found the CTR low and extra income very marginal.
Haven't turned on interstitial ads, they seem pretty close in idea to being annoying popup ads so not something I would use.
