Hi, I wanted to know if PageSpeed Insights mobile performance /desktop performance figures affect Google Adsense earnings?

I have 54/100 for desktop and 40/100 for Mobile. Is that really bad? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks as always!

Not directly, but slowness can result in fewer pageviews. However, your site could be quite fast and still score 54/100 (or worse). A low score means it could probably be faster, but not necessarily that it's slow (you'd need an RUM tool to measure actual load times). Ironically, the only reason my performance score is sub-optimal is because I run AdSense ads, and the advice they give applies to Google scripts and domains.

I've seen AdSense ads not appear at all on slow sites, especially mobile ones. You might try using GTmetrix or Pingdom tools to get a better read on your site speed. Both are better than PageSpeed. They provide more detailed information on performance.

Yeah, most of my page speed improvements they recommend for my Blogger sites are the AdSense ads, themselves. Google doesn't rate themselves so highly, overall.

I have begun using the Pingdom tool. It is the AdSense ads themselves that are slowing me down, although I am getting a 77 on most pages.
