Facebook Ad Network?

A competitor to Adsense?

I saw this article:
[venturebeat.com...]

It's about a new ad network soon to be put out by Facebook.

I'm always a little confused about this kind of thing (applications, who can participate, where the ads show, etc...)
but it definitely mentions in the article that it may be a competitor to Google's Double Click for Advertisers (which I think we all can participate in).

That led me to think that possibly, there will be a (heavily financed) rival to Adsense in the future.
Anyone know much about this?

Not much, but I'm definitely keeping my eye on it. Given the demographics of my sites, this could be huge. Not sure how they'll deal with the privacy issues though - as bad as G is, FB has the potential of being much more intrusive.

Let's say FB will get in the game,
what do you think it will do to CPC prices?

from one side: FB would like to give it's publishers higher CPC and higher revenue,
on the other hand FB would like to be more appealing to it's advertisers with cheaper traffic.

Ad as advertiser, the more I am able to specifically target where my ads go, the more I am willing to pay per click. Don't much care if it's Google or Facebook.

Read Brett_Tabke's post. It mentions that Atlas is a direct competitor to Adsense. One can only hope.

In an era where Google favors 2000 and 3000 word pages, being able to add another ad unit (4th) would be nice.

It reminds me of that old AdSense Urban Legend from the past where someone says "I ate a cheeseburger for lunch and my AdSense earning went up today."

Then you hear stories about "Want to earn more with AdSense? Eat a cheeseburger today!"

I have a lot of 1,500 to 2,500 word pages and a lot of 200 to 300 word pages. Google seems to treat them all the same.

You mean that cheeseburger thing doesn't work?
