Hi all:

I've run into an issue the past few days with my CPC's. I tried a different ad format, and in order to do that, I had to create 2 new adunits, one of which replaced a very high performing unit. Issue is that these new ad units were the the same size, 300x250 with another ad unit on the page, therefore I had 3 300x250's running. My CPCs immediately dropped in half. In a panic move, I waited a few hours and then removed the two new ad units and placed the old ad unit, 300x100, back into the mix. Issue is that since Sunday, my 300x100 and original 300x250 have seen a 200% decrease in CPCs.

Does adsense not like it when I create new ad units and throw them in the mix? I still receive heavy volume, but the CPC's are not going back to where they were. Also, on sunday, One page had 5 ad units running by accident for a few hours.

Do I just need the adsense bots to crawl my site again? Any insight is great, thanks.

how many clicks are you based your obeservation on? cpc's generally jump quite a bit and only average out with enough impressions.

average cpc's generally do not alter much based on your kind of testing. i add and remove ad units quite often and do not experience the effect.

You might do some research on smart pricing as well.
