Regardless of having a good month of earnings or really s..ty bad one, we can all say the same thing that our earnings are no longer the same as they used to be 1, 2 or 3 years ago. All of us can also say for certain the same thing that CPC is lower than it has ever been. I can personally confirm that for top placement on AdWords for one of my site, I had to bid almost £15 pounds per click, for one specific keyword, but when that link was clicked on one of my other sites, I only got paid £1.05 for a single click. Now you can do the math and think about changing strategy of your business to be less dependant on the income that can one day completely disappear. It might sound a bit harsh, but I have learned on my own mistakes that I have made in the past and believe me ther was quite a significant amount of mistakes to learn from.

That is not true for all of us. In fact, I'm sure a lot of Adsense publishers are doing as well or better as in previous years. They just are not in this forum talking about it.

I was watching an interesting he achieved Didier created by quite a well-known female blogger. She was saying that on page content is no longer the prime importance when it comes to SEO. She suggested that Google now like to see people who have made YouTube videos related to their website content. I've noticed a drop in daily visits according to Google analytics, I've done nothing as far as I know the cause damage to my website. I'm still registering a page rank of 4. I know a lot of people disregard page rank, but I don't, what's the point of Google having it if it doesn't mean anything? I would suggest that those of us who have noticed a decline in earnings, check your analytics and see if there is a considerable drop in traffic which may be damaging click rate. Just a thought

No, I can't say that. I've risen every year since 2004.

I quit my day job too (walked away, actually, I was CEO) but I hung on to three clients on retainer, so I'm guaranteed money every month, and I make sure I keep my skills current in case I need to pick up more clients. Because you never know.

My earnings are also rising since 2004, yet now there is a big difference in correlation with daily traffic I have from Google and others. I guess what I meant to say is that my entire traffic for year 2004 was 2,478,359 and my earnings for that year in AdSence alone were almost just over £170,000, which is approximately 0.07 per click, and it was rising along with my traffic with pretty much same results every year until about 2012. Now entire picture began changing. I have more traffic from the search earnings and direct than I have ever had this year. From 1st January until now, I have had significant increase especially after May (Google Panda 4 update) so now have almost 8,597,089 unique visitors so far, yet my cost per click is the lowest ever which has basically dropped to 0.032 per click. I have 3 applications, all have AdSense, site is responsive and running responsive add units all along, most pages have not less than 2 add units, one of which is above the fold and my bounce rate, according to GA is 0.24%, page views 3.44 and time spent on page is 2.44. So what can you make out of this statistics?

If you were up year-over-year, shouldn't you be able to take a couple of beatings, earnings-wise?

No. It went up, but it started out small, slowly increasing until I was able to leave my day job in 2011. 2012 was my best year. 2013 rolled in and Panda hit. I was no. 1 consistently, but they demoted me to no. 3 or 4 spot. I recovered (not entirely) by September, but was hit again this May.

Looking at my stats. Despite having almost 100% more content, my traffic is down 35% from June 2012 and my CTR is down by .5%. But the ads remain the same size, in the same spot, which I don't thin contributes to ad blindness as I have 80% new viewers.

Since 99% of my clicks are from the USA and since this is the 4th of July week with a lot of people on vacation or taking the long weekend away from home

I'm sorry to all of you others who are in the same boat. It's a really frightening time. We've lost so much due to Panda already, despite working my backside off. We're close to defaulting now. I look for work, but nobody wants to hire me.

Also, there is a huge increase in applications that are blocking java script in the browser. Since 2011 according to my GA, the number of visitors without JS has increased by almost 65% year-over-year. This could only mean one thing that people, at least majority of them is becoming tired of seeing adds on every other website they visit, so the easy way for them to block all adds and popups is to get JS blocked once and for all without obviously realizing that at least 97% of all online applications and websites require JS support in the browser to run as intended. According to Google, we need to implement noscript tags to send a friendly message to our visitors and ask them to turn JS on to use our services for better experience, but even after doing so the number is still raising and income is still dropping.

Good month so far. Already made enough to pay the bills, next taxes, savings and finally me.

Totally irrelevant ads on my sites today, no wonder earnings are down ... I do not deal in datacentres nor colocation services ... fubard again.

The last 45 days were good, high amount of clicks, higher than normal cpc, high ctr and then 48 hours ago it just completely stopped. I am not just on about things returning to normal but I have had just one click show up in the last 48 hours despite the traffic remaining the same. Now I have experienced this sort of thing before but only for 24 hours where upon the magic click dump arrives but 48 hours is disconcerting.

Looking at the adverts being shown in the UK they are still the same as those which were being shown a week ago so whilst the advertisers may have changed in other countries things seem the same here just with out the usual amount of clicks I get from UK traffic. I am hoping this is just a delay in data but I am not even getting the red bar at the top.

That's because the ads, themselves, are so annoying that they practically invite blocking. Even Google is guilty of this with ads on YouTube that take over the screen for a given number of seconds. And blockers are easier to implement than ever before.

I try to keep my ads out of the middle of content. But once people get annoyed enough to put an ad blocker in place, that no longer matters.

It'll probably get worse too. I am so sick of interstitial ads (the ones that take over the entire page before you can see the content) I am almost ready to install an ad blocker myself. There seems to have been a real uptick in them lately, particularly on news and magazine sites, and while AdSense doesn't serve that kind of ad (I don't think) interstitials do tend to dirty the pool for the rest of us.

Whelp, I haven't checked in for a week or more. Report for me is complete DS. Not "a" typical of this season, but rather just DS type earnings. Traffic levels appear normal, if not higher than the past. As these types of stretches occur, my gameplan becomes clearer and clearer. I guess that's one good aspect about a kick to the N.

I think one thing that has changed is that Google has discovered how to detect and eliminate click-fraud better than they could 1, 2 or 3 years ago. And that there was a lot more Command-and-Control fraud going on than anyone realized.

This doesn't imply that anyone whose revenue has taken a big hit was guilty of or complicit in any click-fraud. They don't need publishers or advertisers in order to defraud the system any more. And I think that Google has learned how to deal with (or bought a company with people who understood it) it better than they had before.

I don't think it's got anything to do with traffic. I have checked my website various times using Rankriser and I don't appear to have dropped down the search rankings which was something I was worrying about. My AdSense earnings this month are probably 60% of what they were a few months ago. So instead of earning six or £700 this month, I'll probably be looking at anywhere between 250, to £300, that is quite a drop. However, I spent a considerable amount of time last week changing all of my ads so that they were responsive. I've also made some changes to the ad layout and it seemed okay at the moment. I'm not going to do anything for the next couple of months, I just want to see how things pan out. It may be a case that the weather is really good in the US and people are spending more time outside, rather than looking at my website :-)

Right now as of today, a couple sites keep things afloat. I had ads on numerous sites but when the earnings as so poor, I took them off. I used to be able to justify ads on most of my sites when occasionally a nice click or two made it worthwhile. Now I consider it more of a liability having ads on sites that for me, are throw aways. When cash parking is competing with ad units, the answer was pretty clear to me.

I think so, too. I'd really think so if you have the same amount of traffic, same quality traffic and same EPC as a few months ago but now have a lower CTR. Maybe it's not the arrows or buttons or underlining. Maybe it is Google now being much better at detecting click fraud.

I have maybe 10 sites or so, but only two get any real amount of traffic and earnings. Those 2 sites actually make 81% of my overall AdSense revenue.

Honestly I could probably eliminate half of my sites without any concern. The others are somewhat active, just smaller and not really profitable (think: forum).

But, to stay on topic... July is pretty "meh" for me. Slightly below average, nothing to get too worried about at this point. Last month was down about 6% over the previous month, I think it'll be about the same this month. But it's later in the year when I normally see the best months.

I can say almost with certainty that my slow decline in revenue is because of the increase in mobile traffic. Comparing my desktop/mobile visitors from now versus even 6 months ago I can see the difference. And the CTR & RPM is lower for mobile.

I have multiple sites. More than 20, fewer than a hundred. Eight of them earn significant money. The rest not so much (or are not monetized with AdSense), but it adds up.

Six sites that earn anything, one of which earns about 80% of all Adsense revenue. Maybe eight or so other sites, none of which do much.

Absolutely abysmal for me today, PVs normal however clicks way down and EPC, even for UK/US, less than 50% of average ... earnings so far at 20% ... fubard Thursday.

Poor earnings continue. I had a look at my bank accounts and should this continue, I'm definitely looking at an "out of business" situation. I might be able to justify spending an hour or two per day but I've come to realize that Adsense earnings and organic traffic isn't a long term model for success in life. No regrets I suppose, because I've developed some skills. That said, I can take a torch to many an idea right now because it just doesn't matter. I will likely move in a different online direction but at the same time I ask about investments of time and energy. If I become skilled at guitar playing, no one company controls where I can play or if I can get access to listeners. Sorry frustration speaking here. I may have to wait for the landscape out there to change and hopefully I'm not dead before that happens. Quite literally it would take 3 months now to make what I made in 1 month. This occurred over a very short period of time so I don't honestly blame myself entirely for the situation I'm in now.
