Are you sure they're being served by AdSense? I don't think they have that active yet do they? Places like Vibrant Media who I was using for in-text started showing sticky ads and when I found out, they were gone as soon as I could get them off.

First off, what other ad code do you have on the page (Kontera, Vibrant, etc.)?

Thanks for your reply. I am running AdSense exclusively. AdSense Anchor Ads has been in beta for a while. I don't know if Anchor Ads has been publically released yet, and I don't know why they have suddenly started to show up without me opting in for it.

I have included a link where you can read about AdSense Anchor Ads. The strange thing is that at this time I have not implemented any code to get such ads, but they show up anyway:

Although I do understand that some people may find these ads "cool", I do not want them for many reasons, among them which is:

1) They stick themselves on top of other sticky content making this content invisible and non-accessible (for example bottom menu bars)

2) They steal too much real estate on small mobile screens

3) They radically alter the look and feel of my designs and layouts

4) They account for a "spammy" look and feel (in my subjective opinion of course)

I just recently started seeing these for my sites (and I actually like them, but that's why there's chocolate and vanilla)

I don't know of any specific way to disable them; you could contact support and see if they'll tell you.

If it were I, I would probably go to my AdSense account, under Allow and Block Ads, and pick the Ad Serving tab, and then one by one turn off anything that says "Enhanced" and see if one of those switches does it. Worth a try, anyway.

I've emailed my account manager, but because it is weekend I guess I'll have to wait until at least Monday to receive an answer.

I've actually thought about disabling "Enhanced display ads", but the problem with that is that this is an account-wide setting that will disable enhanced features on desktops also... but it's perhaps worth a try...

I did the test; I switched off everything "enhanced" and even "expandables", and could see that enhanced features went away (clickable arrow icons, advertiser images, mouseover highlights, but the Anchor Ads remained.

You might have to give it more time to take effect.

Well, I did see all the other stuff being disabled, so if it was one of those settings, I think it would have shown already. Anyway, the ads looked really dull without the Enhanced features, both on Mobile and Desktop, so I hurried to switch things back on.
