I'm reviewing my "Allow and Block Ads" settings today and was curious how others feel about the Get Rich Quick Category. If you mouse over the ? next to the category title the description from Google is "Schemes promising fast earning." Does anyone else think it's ironic that Google would allow someone to advertise something they describe as a "scheme".

I have that category blocked as well as dating, religion, politics, sex and black magic.

Although, what with all the click-bot activity lately, I am rethinking the "black magic" category. :D

It's does seem like an odd category. Anyone have an idea of how much money there is money making schemes? Google AdWords isn't showing much inventory, I mean, nothing staggering at least.

I know a ton of affiliates that make money that way; I suppose they could be using AdWords. I would think it'd be a pretty difficult category to get a decent QS in these days.

There is one program I know of that is absolutely viral with senior citizens. They refer it to each other and with each referral get a commission but they're also cultivating an AdSense and affiliate income stream. It's the least schlocky make money scheme out there and I imagine with the right advertising via the publisher network could generate income. But that's a savvy bunch. If you have the traffic you might be better off monetizing directly off the affiliate. Sorry to pick up that guitar again but the best way to understand how the AdSense system works is to understand how the affiliate system lives and dies off ROI.

"Scheme" isn't necessarily a loaded or negative word. (It tends to be in American usage but not in British usage, for example.)

Yes I do, but that's just me.

As for the topic - "Get Rich Quick" - in my wealth of experience there isn't such a thing for most people. For every so-called "Golden Opportunity" I didn't take, there have always been 1,001 I'm glad I didn't take.

The business world, again in my experience, is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration [trite I know] - or as others prefer to say [and don't ever forget it]:

"An ounce of luck is always worth a ton of judgement"
