Well, there are money making sites out there that have Adsense on them. How they were allowed in is beyond me.

I saw one that said that if you have a pile of old cellphone in your drawer - as if anyone has - to sell them. And then make more money by buying more and selling them at a profit.

Instead of wasting time on such a site - why not create a site with useful, unique content?

If you have a camera, then why not make a site about your village/town/city?
Places to eat - or not to eat. Places to visit - or not visit. Any places with a ghost story or murder etc.

You'll stand a far better chance with something like that than you would with yet another money-making site.

And if it is a real "how to make money" site, then why are you not using your own advice and instead, relying on Adsense to make money?

zhs122 - You're at least 10-15 years behind the curve with your suggestions, they've been done, dusted and finished with only a few remaining.

Visitors usually only click on ads when they're in a researching and buying mode.

You used to be able to slap up a new website on almost any old topic and make money on it, but it's near impossible to do that anymore. Particularly if you pick a topic where there's already a ton of sites, some of which do it well and others that don't do it well.

Nowadays you're better off if you treat it like a business, which means you do some due diligence and research and figure out how you're gonna do it better, and then do it better - BEFORE you slap the AdSense on it.

zhs, whether Google likes your site or not doesn't matter - what's more important is if other people like your site. In the first place, what you want is something that will attract visitors.

I would suggest trying to narrow your scope to something that you feel you could do better than some other sites out there. If you try to cover too much stuff, you have more of a risk of not being able to focus adequately on whatever you're doing.

I would say though if you feel strongly enough about it then go ahead and try it. See if you can get a small version of it done first and then get feedback from random people.

This is the Adsense forum, and the OP would like to join the Adsense program, so it does matter if Google likes your site or not.

Re: Lame_Wolf, sure, what I was trying to get across was that at an initial stage, it doesn't matter whether Google likes your site or not, since if you don't have any traffic, it's largely irrelevant.

That's assuming that you've already worked out that you won't be outright rejected due to minimal content, copyright violations etc.

I wasn't under the impression that Google would automatically reject sites simply because they cover gaming, making money etc. If the OP is successful enough at first getting visitors, he/she may have a chance.

A subset of the AdSense TOS is that your site has to be in compliance with Webmaster Guidelines. If the content appears to be scraped or in other ways in violation, AdSense may reject the application.
