Using Lijit passback tags with Adsense.

Won't this result in TOO MANY ADS?

We all know you can only have THREE Adsense ads per page.

I've signed up with Lijit and I've placed three of their ads toward the bottom of my pages, so they're separate from Adsense and there is no conflict there.

However, Lijit has a "passback" code option where you can place Adsense code within the Lijit ad so that when a Lijit ad does not show, an Adsense ad WILL show.

Now, wouldn't this potentially result in SIX Adsense ads showing up on one page and be a huge violation of Adsense policy? Or would Adsense automatically cancel the requests for any ads beyond three ads?

I'm worried about using this option for these reasons, although it is tempting, since Lijit only shows ads about 50% for the time (for me). It would be nice to fill in that other 50%.

what will happen is that ads won't show when they are triggered.

It is best to passback lijit ads with affiliate links or any other NON adsense units.

Watchout however as you put more ad units, you run into problems with ad to content ratio which can hurt your seo efforts.

As a side tip however, placing lijit or other RTB ad network ads above the fold increase CPM quite a bit.

I personally have a setup where I place my adsense codes next to navigations where the content is. And place the "ad blind" spots to show those CPM ads.

But of course it depends on the nature of your site. So test.

Hmm, good point about "too many ads", I was worried about that. I've got the max for each, 3 Adsense, 3 Lijit (well, with Lijit you can have as many as you want, but they recommend just 3).

Passback to Clickbank will work.

I think you should ad 3 from Media.net as well...to give some Contextual flare to your site...heck, might as well ad 3 more from another network and just have a dozen on your pages. I'm sure your visitors will find something to click on once the page is finished loading.
