Lower earnings after website purchase with new Adsense account

I recently sold a website. The buyer opened a brand new Adsense account and replaced my ads with that.

The CTR and CPC fell very significantly compared to past earnings with a resulting RPM about 1/3rd of the RPM I was seeing.

Traffic is approximately the same.

Do new Adsense accounts get served weaker ads with lower CPC's? How long does it take for that situation to reverse itself?

I had a similar issue, but instead i changed from a personal adsense account to a business adsense account. It took about 2-3 weeks to recover..

Nice to hear that it did recover. However my buyer can't be certain the shortfall is due to his new account instead of something else.

As we all know, when it comes to both AdSense and Google nothing is certain, and whatever happens could have 1,001 other unrelated reasons.

Quite true. Sadly whatever the reasons are, I'm quite sure they are going to be effective in conspiring to make this deal fall through.
