Is adsense dead or.?

We've just relaunched a website that was hacked in October. Historically the website earned about $0.10 per click and received several thousand clicks per day. We even had

During the last 9 months, the website has obviously been offline. We relaunched and while I did not expect to earn much as traffic levels are obviously low.

However, for 125 clicks, we earned $0.19?!?!?!? Yet it says CPC is $0.05, which obviously isn't correct. Only text ads are enabled.

I don't know whether adsense has just died a death in the past 9 months, I'm doing something wrong, the website is being penalised or something else I'm missing. And I obviously can't explain this weird reporting discrepancy.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Advertisers need to find you, competition then increases.

AdSense is definitely not dead. I just came off my best month ever.

I think part of your post might have gotten cut off.

It sounds like some of your clicks may have been removed as invalid. Are you using the same placements you did before? Do you use channels, and if so, are you using the same ones you used before? Is your traffic coming from the same parts of the world and the same sources as it did before?

But apart from all that - yea, as martinibuster says, it takes time.

I did expect lower CPC due to the lower levels of advertisers. But I didn't expect no revenue for a click, is that normal? In all my time online, this is the first time I've seen something like this.

Actually, if I were you, I'd probably go through the blog to see all the various announcements that have happened in recent months.

Thanks netmeg. Would that explain why 10 clicks could equal zero earnings? Would it have not said 0 clicks and the 10 clicks discounted if they were "invalid"?

I've read about other changes too, but none so far can explain why I'm getting clicks but not earning any money from them.

Hey Netmeg it was not. But I figured out the issue.

It turns out the ads actually had very few clicks, and this is largely because their positioning sucks, which at this early stage didn't matter much.

The clicks were mostly coming from YouTube! And it turns out YT earnings are not reported in adsense but the clicks are, hence the clicks appearing to not earn revenue.

The app I was using to view adsense wasn't showing the difference between adsense/content host.

Moral of the story: be mindful of ad positioning, it can make the difference between 4% CTR to 0.4% and don't use crap 3rd party apps to view adsense.
