I'm probly gonna wait till they fix the thing where the ads change when the screen orientation changes. They say they're working on it.

They are pretty much allowing you to set media queries for the ad slot size. Still not a solution if you don't want the ad to appear at all on your mobile or tablet layout.

Great to see they are responding to demand.

So I'm trying the Responsive (as well as the async) ads on one site, and so far it seems to work pretty well. The right ads are being served on the right viewports (except for the orientation thing)

However, in the reporting, when I go to look at the size, it just says Responsive. I would like to know which actual size got the click. I hope they add that at some point.

Where exactly do you see 'Responsive' in reports?

Edit: I don't see 'responsive' under ad sizes report, am I missing something? I've defined ad sizes via external css, maybe I should define them inline?

I haven't put the CSS in an external file yet, because I'm still testing.

I created a channel for Responsive Ads, and am showing clicks on that channel.

When I go into Performance Reports for today, and choose Ad Sizes, the clicks are shown as Responsive.

Those are ad sizes, not channels.

I've been using my old ad units, I guess I have to create new ones with 'responsive' ad size.

Yeah, I missed the 'official' responsive ad units announcement. Older ad units work perfectly fine, but I probably have to switch to new responsive ones. Thanks.

Well, just started testing the new responsive units. One thing I'm noticing is that one unit covers multiple resolutions and since I just made the switch, I'm not sure how a click gets reported e.g. can you tell a mobile click from a desktop click or are stats lumped together for that single unit? We'll see. Using the classic approach, I'd use three named units in one slot so I'd know which size ad was clicked. Anyone have experience on how Adsense reports on the new responsive units? Who knows, maybe by tomorrow, I'll know first hand and I can answer my own question. One can only hope.

Update: Picked up some responsive ad data over the weekend. The Ad Sizes report shows a responsive size which is a bit ambiguous on its own but, if you add the Platform dimension to the report, things get a bit clearer. I'm assuming you can do this with other reports as well to get a better understanding of the device-specific activity of a responsive unit but haven't dug that deep yet.
