We now have two new settings under ad serving;

Enhanced Text Ads
Choose whether or not you want to display text ads with performance-enhancing features such as product images, advertiser images, or clickable arrow icons, etc.

Expandable Ads
Show ads that expand beyond the ad unit size following a user-initiated action.

They were under "Allow & block ads > Ad serving," but now disappeared. Coming soon I guess.

They're back. Turning off enhanced text ads removes the arrows.

All turned on by default. Can't say that I have noticed them on my sites.

Turned off Enhanced Text Ads and arrows disappeared. Will see if this helps CTR. When they added arrows my CTR went down 50%. Expecting improved CTR but you never know with G.

Looks like tablet and phone still have arrows, desktop no arrows.

160x600 text no longer have lines between ads, they look like old school now.

After switching off Enhanced Text Ads seeing a slight increase in CTR and CPC. Will give it a couple of more days.

Five days after switching off Enhanced Text Ads CTR has gone up a little over a half per cent and seems to be holding.

Looks like switching off Enhanced Text Ads is for desktop only, tablet and mobile still have arrows which is fine with me.

@breeks Are you sure that your CTR went down 50% ? That's crazy.
