I've just been checking some metrics and since 13th May my high-end mobile Page Views have halved with earnings down 1/3. Tablet earnings and Page Views are down but not as much and bearing in mind that these two in April made 24.3% of overall earnings, you can see why I'm analysing everything.

Yet miraculously they'll report increased earnings and profits ... They only want us so that they can squeeze us as far as they possibly can, heck, when was the last time we knowingly had anyone here from Google?

Answer - July 24, 2008 - That's right, coming up to its 5th anniversary.

My feelings are that whereas some members quite rightly view Google as one of their major competitors these days, Google also sees us as their main competition and their problem if/when we start/continue supporting alternative search engines.

If their dominance continues with the knowledge engine and it continues to use my sites for "their" knowledge and if I do not get proportionately recompensed, then they'll find themselves more than blocked from my sites.

Once webmasters start doing that en masse it could be possible to have a very rapid effect on Google's overall business attitude towards us all.

I bet everyone at Facebook are rubbing their hands at that thought ... and on that note I suppose I may have to open a Facebook account ... oh damn!

I've found Facebook to be a myth as far as driving traffic is concerned. Even with thousands of so-called "friends" and "likes," traffic from facebook is minimal at best. Of course, you're welcome to pay them $20/day to "promote" your post in the hopes of getting more eyeballs, but even that doesn't seem to do squat.

I've found Facebook to be a myth as far as driving traffic is concerned.

I've only seen one retail company in my widget industry seemingly use Facebook well, what I'm thinking is that done correctly it could be useful for the manufacturing wholesale trade as well ... the problem is, of course, trying to work out how to do that!

I'm really starting to hate google with the double games they play with:

adword advertisers : adsense publishers (all invalid clicks happed in adsense, never seen any in adwords)
link sellers : link buyers (unnatural links/diswow,matt cuttt, etc)
nofollow : dofollow

To prevent all robots from indexing a page on your site, place the following meta tag into the <head> section of your page:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex">
To allow other robots to index the page on your site, preventing only Google's robots from indexing the page:
<meta name="googlebot" content="noindex">
When we see the noindex meta tag on a page, Google will completely drop the page from our search results, even if other pages link to it. Other search engines, however, may interpret this directive differently. As a result, a link to the page can still appear in their search results.

A noindex on every page will do it. Of course, that will take out Bing and everyone else who obeys directives as well.

Adsense Earnings and Observations: one year ago. Comparing 21 May 2012 VS 2013.
Because of the TOS I can't discuss real daily numbers so let's say:

21 May 2012 = IM$ 10.00 (IMD=International Martian Dollars)
21 May 2013 = IM$ 02.60 Wow! One year ago I was making 73.54% more than today.

Earnings: 73% LESS than a year ago, 73% lost
Valid clicks: 53% lost
CTR: 40% lost
CPC: 47% lost
RPM: 65% lost

Page views: I'm 22.52% lower compared to 21 may 2012 BUT not to be taken literally because I turned off 2 websites and removed Adsense completely from 1 site, that's 3 sites less traffic and less page views. I'm actually in general numbers with more traffic, like 12%-15% higher than a year ago.

I still cover a lot of my costs, the daily average is low, but not as low as 4 specific dates in May that remain as my lowest low. Can't quite understand it, more traffic than ever, less earnings. Go figure.

I'm confused, a year ago you earned 384.46% more or today you earned 26% of a year ago which is 74% less.

From where is the 73.54%?

Let's convert the 10.00 into 100.00 IMD.
That way 2012 would be 100 IMD
And May 2013 would be 26
If 100 IMD = 100% (for the comparison) then

If 100IMD = 100%
then 26 ----- X

(26 x 100) / 100 = 26%
So 2013 it's 26% of the last year 100%.
I'm 100-26 = 74% less, short.

Then 26 = 26% of 100 (it came out this way because I changed 10 into 100)

If last year may 21 was 100IMD, and 2013 was 100IMD, then I would have earned the same 100% of previous earnings.
If 2013 would have been 50IMD then I would have earned 50% of 2012, 50% less, 50% short, I lost the other 50%
Given that it was 26%, I lost the other part :(

I used decimals on my spreadsheet, that's why it turned out 73.xxx

Sorry if it sounds confusing, hope that I explained it the right way

i can confirm, Penguin 2.0 is live, i already see some fu***ed up results in my niche, my position is dancing like crazy (mostly up), lets wait till dust settle down to jump into conclusion.

Penguin 2.0: Im trying some searches and I'm getting diff results and just by waiting a bit, hitting F5 showed diff results for the same query. Then not anymore. Refreshing? releasing it by countries as some other times?

26 = 26% of 100
2.6 = 26% of 10

So the other part, the one that's missing, from the 100% = 100-26 -> 74%. Want appples? you sold 100 apples last year, only 26 this year, you sold only 26% of your last year apples sales, you still have 74% with you, compared to the 100% sold last year. Yes you have 74 apples not sold, because 1 to 100 it's equivalent to 1% of 100%.

Percentage calculator. Go to 2a. "Percentage of a number to another". So, 26 it's the 26%, make the numbers, unless that calculator also has poor mathematics. Any spreadsheet will make the graph quickly by enering 2012-X and 2013-Z, make it show percentages (all in good mood ok? I know forums can sound differently).

you claimed to earn 10 units in 2012
and 2.7 units in 2013

and lost is just 73%?;D odd and wrong

math is simple

actually you LOST nearly 400% in 2013, (exact number is in HuskyPup post)

and you SOLD (your profit) just 27/100 ( 27%) units compared to 2012

you cant just do MINUS 100-27=73 and claim that this is you lost

actually 73 means nothing. Its like apples minus percents = just number, yet undefined.

yet again, your profit decreased 400%

I'm lost there. If 100 apples 2012, and 50 on 2013
isn't it half sales? isn't 50% sales?

For example, to find the percentage of 50 apples out of 1250 apples, first compute the ratio 50/1250 = .04, and then multiply by 100 to obtain 4%. The percent value can also be found by multiplying first, so in this example the 50 would be multiplied by 100 to give 5000, and this result would be divided by 1250 to give 4%.

My approach before applied here: (50x100)/1250 = 4%.

Lost because that's how we look at numbers here, even at the office, "sold only half this year". 100 clients yesterday, 50 today, that's half of yesterday, 50% of yesterday. Even what's X percentage of Y shows the same result by the percentage calculator. So if you have 1000 visitors per day 2012 and 500 on 2013, aren't you having half visitors? it's the same formula. BTW, diff country, not EEUU.
