Could same ad code be causing duplicate ads?

For the past month, I've been seeing the same ads on my pages pretty frequently. To be clear, I am using exclusively 728X90 text ads. Once on the top of the page, and again in the middle of the page.

The code is exactly the same code. I am wondering if I created 2 different codes, still both set to 728x90 and still text only, would that help with duplicate ads being served? Or perhaps is just bad practice to use the same code twice on the same page?

The percentage of time that I am seeing double serving is approx 20%...so it's not ALL the time. But often enough.

Thoughts?

No I don't think so, because occasionally I see the same ads in different sized ads. I don't see it very often anymore but it does happen. (On my own sites and other sites)

Nope, I'm totally bored with seeing the same ad in two different slots page after page ... G's just giving me a reasonably paying EPC with a lousy CTR since it's being shown all the time and keeping all the better-paying ads to itself.

Why can I look at my sites on one machine and see the same ad following me about in 2 positions, look at it on another machine and a different 2 ads following me about? It's nearly always one ad per slot, that's it, no more, no less for me.

They're trying to bore people into clicking, it's not working G.
