Yes, the 160 x 600 and the big 336 x 280, trying to figure out a way to do a screen capture of the transition so I can post a copy for people to see.

I don't run either of those two sizes, and when I mouse over my ads, I see the same thing I usually do, a hover color change, and that's it.

I first saw them about a week ago but forgot what page I was on (big site) as it's only displaying on certain pages and it took a while before I stumbled across them again.

Looks like the arrows are still there on large block. 160x600 are my best performing ad units hope they don't F then up.

Yuck. Am I the only one who thinks that is really ugly and annoying? But, maybe that is what's needed to encourage people to click.

You're not the only one Jadebox, I still can't stomach the arrows to be honest. It immediately alerts me that the page may be low quality when I see them and I don't think the growing text will help. I just started seeing arrows on the 160x600 units too :/

Having said that, if their testing doesn't work out, this may lead to publishers being blamed and a fresh group of account closings.

I still think GAS should allow us to set a min PPC on our own sites. Far too many advertisers are getting way too much branding and not necessarily generating clicks.

I was told by an Adsense team member that if you run your ads through DFP, it allows you to do that. I have not tried it myself (its on the long todo list) but that is what I was told.

I don't think it quite works like that. You can set a minimum for your own ads or direct ads, and they'll use AdSense as backfill, but I'm pretty sure you can't say "no one cent AdSense clicks on my site" even in DFP.

The reason is, advertisers want cheap clicks, and if the publishers ban them, then Google is left with a bunch of cheap inventory it can't place, because then EVERYONE would ban them. And as I have said many times before - the publishers aren't driving this bus, the advertisers are. (Well, actually Google is, but their priority is advertisers)

Not exactly. You can set a minimum threshold, but if there are no ads to meet that, then cheaper ads run. Either that or no ads run, depending on how you set up dfp. I am no dfp expert, but that's been my experience.

Agreed. but there is a company which allows you to restrict ads to a minimum value, Criteo. I've used them for some time now and it works 100%.

They might not have the spread of ads that Adsense has but they sure seem to have a lot of them! They regularly take 30% of one format of my ads at above a given minimum (which is above what Adsense earns me). If they have no ads above the minimum they don't serve them and I can allow Adsense to appear instead (if I want or nothing if I don't want). Simplicity itself to implement and, so far, I have found no downside to it.

I use Criteo too. It still does not make what I make from Adsense, but the model they have is good for my display ad areas.
