How do you know that a specific click has earned you a specific amount?

I have many url channels set up. This morning several articles each had one click with a CPC of well over a dollar each. Now, none of those urls have clicks.

It looks to me like Google interprets them as invalid clicks and takes them away. I have no idea why though.

Traffic quality possibly - do you know where your traffic is coming from? Layout issues - if they think there's a chance that you're getting accidental clicks, they will roll them back. Also, advertiser issues. I had some taken away and I questioned it and was told the advertiser either broke the rules or didn't end up paying for his clicks.

Not much you can do about it, except make sure your traffic is coming from the expected sources on the expected keywords etc.

Think like an Adwords' Advertiser. You spend $25 a day. In Adword you can choose "spread money out during the day, or get as many clicks as soon as possible"

Advertisers budget is $25, so once their budget is used up for the day, their ad's stop running, and cheaper advertisers take their spots.

In some niches you have to be the first to get the Traffic "and ad clicks" for the day to take advantage of the Ad budgets for the day before it runs out.

A lot of Adsense Advertisers don't realize this! I doubt most Adsense Advertiser ever played around with Adwords on the content network to see the other side of the coin.

What you are seeing is Daily budget drain for the High end advertisers, then after the budgets are drained, the excess advertisers take over.

Tip: Try to drive as much traffic as possible at the start of the day to capture as much of the Ad budget as you can.

I don't use Adwords so I find this fascinating. Is there really not an option to schedule for blocks of time...say between noon and 3 Pm or 8 PM and midnight?

Thanks guys. I think netmeg may be right. I have a Q&A site and some of the ads that come up are for a very well known Q&A site. Some users may click on those by accident thinking that they are submitting to my own site. Perhaps Google is refunding money for those clicks? The only thing is that I would expect that if this was the case then my pages that encourage people to ask questions would be the ones where earnings are clawed back. But it seems like it is the opposite...the earnings disappear on article pages.

If this was what was happening though I would think I would just stop getting clicks throughout the day. But what is happening is that I get a click for say $1.25 on a bunch of different articles. My total at some point early in the morning may be $19.00 Then when I log in later in the day it says those articles have no clicks and my total for the day is something like $4.00 with a bunch of <10 cent clicks.

It's probably that Google has detected something they think is click fraud, but it's darn annoying. I guess there's nothing I can do about it.
