Mobility Scooter Search Leads to Funeral Plan IBAs

A couple of days ago I was looking up details of mobility scooters for my mother. I spent about ten minutes on two sites.

Immediately after that, Adsense began serving up mobility scooter ads on pages I visited - a pain in the neck but I'm used to that sort of thing.

I ignored all the ads, so now I am getting funeral plan ads served up by Adsense! Maybe they reckon my mother was old and might have passed away in the meantime! Or maybe mobility scooters are so dangerous they reckon she might be involved in a fatal accident. A bit sick making!

It could have been worse, there could have been adverts for walkabouts or hiking etc.

I don't think it's adsense that thinks, but rather funeral company. They have to target people somehow. They are in a business, and it would be sick if they targeted those who search for orange juice. It is nothing personal, pure business... Think if you had a funeral company how would you find your clients?

In some cases you can disable the targeting by clicking on the AdChoice... hope this helps...

Yup, that's how Adsense track every users. That's why they are adamant to have Privacy Policy in place or else they'll get in trouble.

Some people really do make funeral arrangements pre-need. In fact that's what the words "funeral plan" meant to me. (And, come to think of it, got a vague idea that's where the term "pre-need" was first used.) If you are not yet mourning, it can be easier to think about what you really want instead of saying Yes to everything the funeral director suggests. And if you've already bought a plot, your family is not likely to bury you next to that sister you never could stand.
