Changing AdSense country - minefield or piece of cake?

Because of the EFT issue that was mentioned on these boards month or so back ([webmasterworld.com ]), I have to change my AdSense country from Ireland (where I don't have a bank account and have no chance of getting one) to UK (where I do have an account).

Unfortunately, I'm currently in south america travelling and will be for some time...

I notice there's a "change country" link in the settings page, but I'm guessing in these times, it won't just be as simple as I'm hoping for it to be. What "procedures" will I have to go through in order to change my country? Anyone know?

And failing that, I'd like to leave the whole account payments in self-hold until I'm back in Europe and able to sort things out properly. If I leave my AdSense country as is, once the new EFT regulations come in, will I be allowed to leave the account as it is without entering bank account info? My guess is "no", so will be forced to change the country to UK.

The 3 times I had to switch country I had to shut down my accounts, or at least apply for a new account first and then switch over all the code.

Not sure if they are still doing that as that "change country" link wasnt an option at the time.

It seems that if you open a new account the quality of adds drops, it seems that the CPC is lower in newer accounts.

You are looking at it the wrong way, you should ask yourself:

Is my website relevant to my visitors?

It depends on the TLD. Some TLD's prevent you from altering it.

Any progress, have you started the changing process? I'm considering changing my account country too, and I came upon a form in adsense support section:
[support.google.com...]

It seems like country-changing has become easier(possible?). My only concern is the change in reliability of the account.

no, I dare not do it until I absolutely HAVE to...it all depends on the new EFT regulations they're supposed to be bringing in. As yet, they are still allowing cheque payment for Ireland and only when that ends will I enter the labyrinth of changing my country.

But yes, it does at least SEEM easier than it was a few years back.
