Adsense for Search - What works for you?

For everybody doing adsense for search what format/color scheme seems to be working for you?

There seems to be a new google-esque format that custom search just released last week. Has anybody been able to implement the new layout?

Personally I've used the minimalist layout to maximize CTR. I'm still on the fence about leaving the image tab option on my CSE. I like the flexibility it gives my users but at the same time it doesn't produce revenue.

I have a simple adsense for search box at the top of each of my larger, content heavy sites.

I get some decent revenue from it. Nowhere near as much as my actual on page ads, but the CTR and page rpm are very high. I WISH my CTR and RPM for ads on my site were as high as adsense for search.

Then again, that would probably throw up red flags...

Depends on the site. For most of them, I just use Google type colors. For certain niche sites that are built around custom CSEs, I use special custom styles.

Yeah custom styles are def important.

I guess because im seeing alot of mobile searches now, i realize that even a slight change in layout can heavily influence the CTR either halving or doubling it. It makes sense esp with the small screen space users have to work with.
