Good luck, when I've done that all I saw was a reduction in earnings. I can, however, understand your frustration, I had a channel the other day that when I looked at the metrics had just 1,000 impressions...and 3 clicks...very inspiring!

Home page for me typically has low CTR. Goes up the closer the topic is to specific products.

I made more my first month with AdSense years ago than I'll make today.

Yesterday closed with nearly identical numbers to Aug 1, about 40%. Maybe too early to tell, but at this point it looks like losing those pages didn't hurt.

My traffic is steady but it's migrating from one type of page on my site to another type of page. Think single descriptive product vs list of products with the list becoming more popular. Unfortunately the ads seems to pay 50% on the new 'important' pages.

My best adsense results came when I had none on the index page at all and also removed all javascript, tracking and whitespace from the index. A lean and mean front page seems important and Google search quality doesn't seem to jive with Google adsense anymore.

Have you tried to redesign, change ad size/type?
I have pages(one page that generates 2000+ pages actually) that has extremely low CTR. I've tried many designs with different ad sizes/types (by type I mean text/image), but noting worked. I guess there are just pages that hold the right combination of information, links and navigation, so visitors are not interested in ads they see there.

Yes.

Right now, I'm just testing to see what effect reducing the amount of pages with AdSense has on the bottom line. So far, not much.

Just removed some more. Now down to 1%.

I take it you don't have any URL channels implemented? Not even directory URL channels?

At any rate, it looks like the lion's share of your earnings are coming from a few pages. This is something I realized with my main site when Panda hit. Never really thought about that before because my earnings were so stable. Only thought about my earnings on a per-site basis.

Yes, all 2700 pages had AdSense. Now, only about 30 do.

I'm just several days away from removing my above the fold 728x90 adsense on about 10,000 pages. going to collect email addresses for my new weekly eNewsletters instead. Since the pandalization of my two 12 year old authority sites, it's time to rely on other methods for long term success (which I should have done sooner). I'll see if it has any effect on traffic.

I am doing the opposite. I took Google's advice and added more ad units to each and every page "as they suggested" --- and started running image based ads on a site "as they suggested".

Previously the site had exactly (1) ad unit per page and no image ads.

The first couple days were pretty dismal -- then the ads seemed to get more targeted and earnings went up.

My other reason for adding the units was to see if the site would recover some lost PR, (not that I think for one minute that Google would ever consider boosting a page just because it had more adwords/adsense ads)...............................

I took the same advice from Google to add units to certain spots and I saw absolutely no positive change in traffic or PR & clickthru's were just marginally better. My PR went down one notch yesterday morning on one.

My sites revenue will be better monetized from building a loyal subscriber list instead of adsense.

With one hand they wanted me to add units and with the other hand they pandalized me.

Less bloated javascript code full of tracking, inline css, 302 redirects and a dozen other calls for more javascript files is indeed the new more.

A blank page will render in under half a second, a single adsense unit jumps the load time on a blank page to 1.6 seconds which is already above the Google 'fast line' of 1.5. These are the average I achieved on my test site and they leave a lot to be desired imo.

I did the same and saw a reduction in overall traffic and a jump in bounce rate. I cant be sure the reduction was because of adsense but it sure didn't help. I did see a small increase in earnings but it took it's toll on my site quality.

Google has the technology available to make the ads much faster but it's not worth the resources on their part for small publishers. I hope they revisit that soon.

Me too. I forget how long ago now but I put Adsense on in August just before going on holiday deciding that if I had hit a target on my return I would stick with it.

Now I am lucky to take in a month what I would take in a week back then. Amazon and other affiliate sales have died too.

We added units to each page and turned on the image/ text option, vs. just the text option, and earnings increased by about 15%. Recently, though, an optimization person told me to put just one unit on a page to see if earnings increase (because with 3 units, users have more options and are more likely to click on a low-paying ad). So, we're testing, but 3 ads still seems ideal for us.

Now I am lucky to take in a month what I would take in a week back then.

Me too syndrome, 40% of pre-Panda and 20% of just a couple of years or so ago and 10% of my peak and it correlates precisely with CTR.

I found that my most trafficked pages didn't pay very well as not many advertisers are paying for those pages keywords. Removing it from those busy pages means the data Google is getting about 'on load' is faster and the bounce rate is lower, it has a positive impact on the rest of the sites rankings. Enough of a positive impact to reward me more than an army of penny clicks would? I don't know yet.

I have always used the old ad code... more control... however, decided to impliment new code and all I get is a "this page not found" what am I doing wrong...

I've only had AdSense on my home page for a few days at a time for testing. Overall, removing AdSense from my home page and other low-paying pages has increase my AdSense revenue.

This is an area that I hadn't really thought about for a while. When I enter my site I generally see the most relevant ad first. As I navigate the site the ads are less and less relevant. If the visitor is most likely to click on an ad on page 2 then it makes sense to take the ad off page 1 so that he gets the more relevant and, hopefully, better paying ad displayed when he is likely to click.
