Last year I made a big and desperate Twitter experiment.

My thought was 10.-EUR more AdSense reveues per 1000 followers.

After some month 26 thousand followers in 4 different languages on 4 language specific Twitter accounts.

My calculation would have been right, if it would all have been human followers, but I assume about 99% had been software only.

One of my Twitter accounts had after 2 month PR6.
Great, but wiht NOFOLLOW absolutely for nothing useable.

Facebook: NOFOLLOW
Twitter: NOWOLLOW
But in Google plus, there are real links

I have since Monday a Google plus account. I think it's a big difference. Alone the ideas that a good community clicking on +1 Buttons could improve search results.

I have now to finish work on a clients website until Friday.
After this, I will throw away the sensless "Follow me on Twitter" on my sites.

Now only Google plus counts.

There are simple 2 questions

1.) From where comes the money
2.) From where are the visitors creating the revenues

Google sends me money, not Twitter and Facebook
Google sends me visitors, what's coming from Twitter and Facebook is a joke. When they also destroy my efforts in social media with NOFOLLOW, there is a simple answer, abandon Twitter and Faceook.

My idea:

Make a great site, and Google sends You visitors,
make a great community in Google plus, and You even receive more visitors.

You have to be where your users are. Are your users in Google+ yet? I have my circles all set up, and in my family circle there's one person (who never uses it) and in my friends circle there are maybe three, and in my SEO/SEM/PPC Industry circle, there's 200. I'm not likely to make a dime off those folks. My users aren't in Google+ yet.

Google sends money from Google+?

If so, SIGN ME UP!

Otherwise, where's that money coming from?

One B2B twitter account i am handling right now has had 32 followers and i made in two months 6 digits figure for that company, i know it was a lucky shot but what can i say Nr.32 i followed (and he followed me back) happend to be one of the biggest eastern european distributer of our product niche, deal was sealed last week...

my point is, numbers mean squat, I took over another account last week and it took me a week to delete 90% of spam, fake or foreign language followers, its really not the numbers that count its the quality, and i see that with every social channel, b2c and b2b...

just saying...

Improved search ranking by many +1 votes.

And therin lays the problem, most pages will not get a single +1. At this point I'd recommend being selective on where you put it, perhaps your best performing pages only, since it slows down the page and tracks your visitors.
