I'm guessing we'll see activity pick up later in the day. My EPC was fine earlier on but my CTR was disastrous however it has recovered a little now.

I suppose it will all depend how many poeple watch repeat after repeat after repeat of whatever it is they want to see, plus THE USA is having disastrous weather conditions in some States therefore that must have an effect too.

Pretty sure those tens of thousands seen on TV nor the millions watching them were visiting websites and clicking ads, it's a good guess. Friday is always a slow day for me anyway so throw the wedding on top, f'get about it.

For those not familiar with tornadoes, it's very localized, 100s impacted vs hurricanes with thousands or millions, shouldn't be much impact.

Read that upwards of 2 billion watched the wedding this morning (ok I admit it, I was one of them). That's nearly 1/3 of the world's population. Crazy!

I would like to thank the UK for scheduling the wedding so early in the morning (at least here) so that I can have some hope for recovery later. This is actually the kickoff day to my peak season. Nobody asked ME about booking a royal wedding today of all days.

Well this makes sense why my numbers were so low yesterday. The odd thing is, my traffic was about 90% of normal, while the income was around 70% of an average day for this month. Meanwhile, today my eCPM is about 125% of normal. I interpret this to mean:
1) Traffic was slightly lower yesterday
2) AdSense employees who normally verify clicks and provide us with those nice "click dumps" were staffed lower than normal, or for some other reason they could not process all of the clicks yesterday. They are making it up today.

So I am seeing this as probably a 10% loss in revenue for yesterday. I'll call that my wedding gift to the royal couple.

I never buy those number estimates anyway. But go ahead and out a price on 2 billion people loving your country, for at least a day :). The British brand went way up

Off-topic I know, but I agree with walkman - as a Brit I'm happy about the Royal Wedding and the attention that it's attracted.

Re: what john28uk says: part of it is that there were bank holidays last friday (8 days ago, that is), then one on monday (5 days ago) and yesterday - thus meaning that some small companies simply closed 8 days ago and then didn't reopen this week since they'd only be open Tuesday to Thursday.

Heck, I know of some 9-5 workers who booked Tuesday to Thursday off and thus will have 10 days off in a row. So in many ways, a lot of the country has taken this week off! I think this is the main reason behind the numbers.

But yeah, not a major biggie really. A Royal Wedding is only really a once-in-a-generation event. I'm certainly happy about it.
