Hi there,

I've got a question about adsense and google regional results.
Basically I'm based in Ireland and I'm still in the process of finding a niche to target for a monetized blog (it will have real content and be a legit blog, but anyway) lets say the niche I'm targeting is dog grooming and I research the competition and all the google 1st page competition are PR2 or lower and are all from Ireland. However, the high CPC rates (from what I have been lead to believe) come from America.
What am I missing? Can I run a blog that gets high American CPC rates or should I try and find a high paying Western European Niche. Thanks for any help / advice / appropriate links.

Hi Icinine,
IMO you should concentrate on what visitors your want to target. Adsense should come 2nd.

If you are targeting something global, like dog grooming, then personally I would use USA servers, go for a .com (you won't be able to go for a .us) and get IBL's from different countries.

However, if you want to target dog grooming in Ireland, then I would go for a .ie .eu or .com TLD

IIRC, if this is your first site with Adnsense, then it need to be live for at least 6 months before trying to join.

that isn't sufficient anymore...you need to prove that you have a really great site to get into adsense these days...sometimes, you will be at a loss to understand why they aren't approving your site....

That's always been the way though. But then, you could have an account almost straight away.

You also have the possibility to set the targeted country in your webmaster-tools account

If you want to earn higher CPCs from a higher paying niche from a higher paying country, than that's the site you have to create - and target.

But it goes without saying that it's going to take a lot more hard work, time, and you'll have a lot of competition. You might not be very profitable for the first year or two, particularly if you pick something that has a lot of competition.

If you're completely new to it, then you might want to start out with something small that's targeted to your own area, in a niche you know something about (regardless of whether it's high paying or not). Then you can make all your newbie mistakes on THAT site, instead of the one you're gonna build in the future that will earn.
