If you notice, Google does not put trademark, registered trademark, salesmark of other legal claim next to the term "AdSense" when it uses the name of that product/service in print.

While searching for something else, I ran across a copy of the December 1901 issues of the magazine "Ad Sense" -- scanned into Google Books of all places!

I dunno, it looks to me like Google has it registered as a trademark:

Registrations issued on or after November 16, 1989 have a ten-year term, renewable every ten years.
