Are Link Units Paying Less?

Hi all,

I was seeing my stat for today, on a link channel:

Total click is 605 : $7.00 USD

Are you guys seeing same situation? There was a time when Link units were the best earning resource, but now I am planning to remove them.

What you say?

I wouldn't act on one day's worth of stats.

The question is, are the link units taking away from clicks on ad units? If that's incremental income you wouldn't get anyway, then I'd just leave them. But if they are taking clicks away from your ad blocks, or encouraging people to leave your site early, then you want to get rid of them (or try a different placement)

I love link units and I have at least 50 sites that have no ads BUT link units. And I frequently get clicks worth several dollars each, judging from my channel data. I also sometimes get three clicks totaling five cents. But it all depends on your niche.

I am not yelling on a day stat, it's been 3 months since I am seeing this kind of earning. The same unit was getting more than 400% earning previously.

Overall, no, however I am seeing some pretty wild fluctuation of EPCs in both blocks and links for no apparent reason. I can have days of steady EPCs and then site 1's EPC will suddenly collapse and then the following day site 2's with site 1's EPC recovering and then site 2's.

It seems to have a definite weekly pattern to it so far in 2010 with Wednesday my overall worst performing day of the week now when it used to be my second best day.

Does someone at the Plex get pi$$ed off with my good Tuesdays and decide to throttle me for a couple of days?

I am, maybe not as bad, but close. Adlinks earnings is way down.

I haven't looked closely, but I wonder if there is a connection to when they started putting the "more" arrows on regular adblocks?

If you aren't happy with the earnings, and can replace the adlinks blocks with regular adblocks, then why don't see test and see what happens?

I use adlinks in two very specific locations, do pretty well with them, though perhaps not quite as well as I used to. But the choice is links or nothing, given the location. I like them, on the whole. When I first started using them, they just about doubled my income, even though I used them on many fewer pages than I did adblocks.
