I think it's important to not be too optimistic or pessimistic when comparing one's performance to what is reported here by others.

The difference in topics is a key reason, but not the only reason.

Some people have millions of impressions per month, some have hundreds.

Some people have site layouts that most would think are gawdy while others think it's cool.

People have different language skills.

And some people are static while others are dynamic.

Let's suppose you have a 15-yr-old child and you want to help that child build a site and monetize it with AdSense so the child can have a steady stream of income by the age of 21.

You decide to let the child build and manage the site under your supervision and using your AdSense account. Your 5% CTR for your account might immediately drop to less than 1% and your eCPM experience similar results.

But that wouldn't mean you're any better or worse a publisher than anyone else.

I could remove AdSense from all of my sites except one and immediately my CTR would be well into the double digits and my eCPM would be over $200. But my overall income would decrease as a result of removing AdSense from my other sites. So what would be the point?

The information you read on this forum is just that, it's information that can be useful, but it's not bedrock guiding principles information in most cases.

Yep and going by your nick you just so happen to be in an industry that has not only recently been in crisis but is an industry whereby the manufacturer and dealers are constantly vying for attention PLUS it's one of those purchases where people will search The Net and click on applicable ads if they can smell a bargain...e.g. 5% extra off $100 is not that much however 5% extra off $20,000 is serious cash even though it is the same proportionately.

Think yourself very lucky with those figures and keep at it. Incidentally I stopped making major site updates last October 2009 in favour of specially designed corporate blogs...their CTR and eCPM is more than double my regular sites.
