What difference does it make what they gave away last year? Maybe they didn't intend on giving any money away this year.
It makes all the difference. If every year they donated X number of dollars, and then this year they said "Sorry kids, we aren't giving you presents this year because we are donating X number of dollars to charity", well that's lame. They obviously think we are stupid. If you don't want to give us gifts anymore then fine, but don't lie and say that the charity is getting the money instead. The company is keeping the money and doing their regular charitable tax-write offs.
I doubt we will ever see gifts from Google again.
zylstra's last sentence was a good one. you've got to hand it to google's PR department -- they've got everyone patting them on the back for scraping their own presents.
Many arguments made by members here are based on the premise that Google 'owes' them some sort of 'present' simply because a present was received by said people in years past. I am of the opinion that this argument is flawed, as I haven't read anything in our TOS which states that we are entitled to any extra payments outside our normal Adsense revenue.
Time to put another beer in my google frig.
Yours is still working?
