I am practical an environment organization
financed by AdSense.

Since I loose since years the battle to increase my revenues,
I had now the idea to ad an PayPal donation button on my site.

Is this allowed in TOS?

I can't see a PayPal donation button bringing in any money. IMHO

It may depend on the site, I hope.

When Wikipedia got $3 million donation in 2 month, I would be happy
with 1/1000 of this.

A small donation call at the end of my newsletter brought already a little bit of money.

I have had, until recently, Paypal Donation buttons on every page of my websites (computer support sites) and after 3 years of having them there I haven't even reached the £100 mark. For 2010 I have decided to remove 'all' Paypal donation buttons with the exception of the one on my contact page (this will only remain 'just in case' anyone feels the need to make a donation.

My main source of website income is from Google with the odd affilate advert thrown in to the mix. I don't make a fortune, I certainly can't retire on the income but the Google income has been steady so i'm grateful.

Having a donation button on your site is fine. Just be careful to ensure that any wording around your donation button doesn't also draw unnatural attention to the ads on your site.

Yes, and it's paypal.

Oh yes.
Mine mentions why we are asking for donations. The site never mentions about adsense (except in the privacy policy) let alone telling people that we would gain income if you clicked on them. I value my account as it keeps my head above water.

"support this website by donating" <- even these words may influence a user to click ads when they can't pay, just to support your website -> so be careful in choosing your words!

If it's a newsletter make it a "SUBSCRIBE" button then the AdSense is less likely to get undue attention.

Subscribe and Donate are two totally different things. ;) The OP was on about Donate buttons.
