And I have a site that requires exact searches. If I'm searching for a particular object, I want that object to be on the search page...not something irrelevant like many of the results with Adsense for Search.
Is this the typical thing with AFS? Like you know...small time publishers? Or is it just base on the content that we have indexed in google's database?
Any thoughts?

How long have you had AFS on your site?
It works extremely well on my directory site and seems to have everything indexed however it did take it a while if I remember correctly.
Unsure why they never get banned though..
Seems to me like, it's the same problem since 3 years ago since I last used it.
Doesn't search 100%.

When i try to put in a specific term or phrase, it doesn't come out correctly. Instead of going directly tot he page or displaying the correct page it doesn't
You're using Google CSE control panel to configure it, right? There are now quite a few options for you to tweak it, if getting it to work properly is the problem.
