AdSense Password Recovery System FAIL

Forgot Login Password - Now Google Locked Me Out

Maybe someone can help me. I lost my Adsense account password and attempted to use the password rest. It asks a question "Who's email is this?" and when I put in my name it won't send me the password. I wrote to Adsense and they asked questions like when did I open the account, which I have no idea so they denied helping me because they couldn't prove my identity. I can see no way to contact them other than the form with questions I don't remember. Help!

If you don't know your email address, how are they going to know it's really you?

They are not questioning my email address; I have that. They keep asking whose email address it is and won't accept my answer, which is correct and keep directing me back to that silly reset page. It is a vicious circle. I cannot contact them to give them additional info to prove it is me.

You're going to have to be able to prove you're who you say you are.

You don't even know when you signed up? You would have gotten a confirmation email from them when your account was approved. You didn't save it?

I'm sorry but the idea of not saving important emails, at least until you're absolutely sure you'll never need them again, runs so counter to good email communication practice it's just, well it's just not good practice.

You're in for a long haul unless you can offer definitive proof as to who you are. This is exactly how it should be.

Recovering a password shouldn't be as difficult as the OP reported. Most sites you give them your email addy and they send you a link to click and change the password. Is it possible that the engineers over-thought the password recovery system?

I took WyWeb's advice and went looking for my confirmation email from Adsense. I found it on a back up disk and have now changed the password. Thanks for all of your help!
