I have only public service ads showing throughout one of my sites... The site is 3 years old... and everything OK until now...

Ads showing of all pages on my other three sites...

No email notice from the powers that be...

What could be the problem... anyone?

Here too, lots of irrelevant ads. No wonder my CTR has been so low today.

Maybe things will improve throughout October (wishful thinking).

OK Got a response from GA

Apparently my site has (after 3 years) been upgraded to an adult site... so they say... we are talking about a site topic about famous black and white photography/photographers

They are passing on the information to a higher source... for further consultation

This has cost me heaps in revenue! Sad day indeed

Go figure...

Today (1st Oct) we (that's you and me) have the added problem of adverts not appearing at all. Happened a few weeks ago, and now it's back. (IE6)

CTR is absolutely atrocious today. I was naively hoping for some kind of turnaround with new advertising budgets coming in today but I've never seen it so slow.

I quite like that site, but there are a few photos that someone's great grandmother might find risque.

The thing that gets me is that you've been able to get permission from the hundreds of different copyright owners of those photos to be able to show them.

I wouldn't have thought it would be humanly impossible to do that.

I've often wondered when and if you would be prosecuted or investigated, or at least lose your adsense account. How do you do it? (Get the permissions, I mean). Do you hire people to contact the owners? Are you able to get permission without hefty fees?

I've had a few public service ads on some pages of my site but most pages are normal, so not sure whats up with that!

coachm, are you saying that ElvisFan is breaking rules with his images? I've never had a site like that, so unsure about rules with images.

No. What I'm saying is that a site that contains picture taken by others and published in other publications needs to get permission to reproduce those photos. The site ElvisFan is talking about (I found it via search) has hundreds of photos, so I'm assuming permission was sought, and gotten.

BTW, it's a really nice site. As a photographer I really enjoyed it.

But the time it must have taken to keep the site legal must have been amazing, and the costs also.

Or perhaps I misunderstand something.

Anyway, I think adsense is showing properly on that site. There are some nude pictures, but they are art, if you know what I mean.

I guess Elvis has left the building :) . Too bad. I was hoping to find out about all the photo copyright stuff.

I think I have to change my opinion of the site discussed though, due to not getting any answer. It would sure weigh on my mind to have to worry about losing my entire adsense account due to reproducing photos without permission. That would be a much more serious thing than having a few classic nude phots on a site, yes?

(anyone know about the legality of reproducing thumbnails of photos and posters without permission?)
